What to Expect
At Gentle Touch we use Nova Threads PDO Thread Lift, which are hypodermic needles preloaded with an absorbable PDO suture. PDO stands for Polydioxanone. It’s one of the safest materials to be implanted in the body. In fact, is used in open heart surgery. Your skin fully absorbs it within 4 to 6 months and won’t leave you with any scar tissue.
Our Nurse Practitioner injects the preloaded needle into your skin and the PDO thread stays beneath the skin when removing the needle.
Your skin gently reacts to the inserted threads repairing itself around the PDO suture. This process of controlled healing is the principle behind some of our most popular aesthetic procedures such as chemical peels, micro needling and laser skin resurfacing. Our skin is excellent at repairing itself and by inserting PDO threads we make it heal itself by creating new collagen, naturally.
HOW IT WORKS
There are two types of procedures with PDO threads: Mesh or Lift.
The mesh procedure uses smooth threads to create a mesh under the skin. This mesh is like a net that will serve as the foundation for new collagen production. This technique tightens the skin naturally achieving visible results without any drastic change.
For the lift technique, we use barbed threads to produce more dramatic and immediate results. The barbed PDO sutures provide a grip underneath the skin instantly repositioning the skin. Just like smooth threads the skin will build new collagen which will secure the lift.
RESTORING THE V-SHAPE
NovaThreads are an FDA-approved injectable thread lift. With the ageing of skin tissue our face’s V-shape diminishes. At Gentle Touch, we use mesh and lift techniques to create a scaffold to support the tissues and keep them in the V-shape or we reposition the skin to recreate the V-shape where it’s been lost.
