What to Expect
Wrinkles on your face are caused when your facial muscles contract under your skin when you express emotions. Through the years, those expression lines start to linger longer and can become more pronounced. Botox works by reducing the contractions of the muscles that cause those persistent frown lines and crow’s feet.
Our nurse practitioner will use a fine needle to inject Botox and Wrinkle Relaxers directly into the muscles. This only takes a few minutes and is usually painless. There may be some temporary bruising following the injections, but this will go away quickly. To maximize your results, we also recommend that you not lie down for at least an hour following the injections, you avoid rubbing the treated areas for at least 12 hours, and you refrain from strenuous exercise until the following day. Neuromodulators are safe and effective procedures, though we do not recommend it for our clients who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
After treatment, most clients see results within a few days. Since the muscles that we’ve injected are no longer able to contract, you will notice a relaxing and softening of your facial areas controlled by these muscles. Your skin will remain smooth and unwrinkled for up to four months. Wrinkle Relaxers can be combined with other cosmetic procedures, such as facial fillers, for further skin enhancement.
